Easy Cranberry Orange Scones

For Thanksgiving dinner, I bought some beautiful oranges and cranberries to decorate around the turkey.  Everyone was so hungry before dinner that I skipped that little step.  It left me with oranges and cranberries to be used.  I wanted to make something warm and yummy.  The first thing that came to mind was this Cranberry Orange Scone Recipe.

This scone recipe is super easy to make and sure to be a big hit.  The family was asking for seconds asking for seconds.

CRANBERRY ORANGE SCONE RECIPE

Ingredients


  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 large orange
  • 1/2 cup halved fresh cranberries
  • 1/4 cup diced fresh cranberries
  • 2 tbsp vanilla frosting


Directions


  1. Preheat oven to 375°
  2. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in butter until pea-sized.
  4. Add zest and juice from one large orange. Keep orange for one last step at the end.
  5. Add milk and mix just until blended
  6. Add dough to greased baking pan or cookie sheet and top with diced cranberries.

     7. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

     8.  Heat up vanilla frosting for 15 seconds in the microwave and add juice from the orange we set aside.  Mix together and drizzle onto baked scone.

     9. Cut and serve.

These scones are delicious either warm or cold.  They didn’t last a day in my house.
